Known for his complex and introspective lyrics, unique vocal style, and freestyle rapping, he was one of hip hop’s most original and influential figures. Born in 1981, Eyedea began rapping at a young age and quickly established himself in the local freestyle scene. He won numerous battles and competitions, including Blaze Battle, which showcased him to a national audience. This led to him getting offered a deal with Bad Boy records which he turned down to stay with home town label Rhymesayers Entertainment, a label known for its underground hip-hop and innovation. Eyedea released several acclaimed albums, including "First Born" (2001), "The Many Faces of Oliver Hart" (2002), "E&A" (2004) & rock album as Carbon Carousel titled "The Sum of all Things..." (2006).
