Born in 1981, Eyedea began rapping at a young age and quickly established himself in the local freestyle scene. He won numerous battles and competitions, including Blaze Battle, which showcased him to a national audience. This led to him getting offered a deal with Bad Boy records which he turned down to stay with home town label Rhymesayers Entertainment, a label known for its underground hip-hop and innovation. Eyedea released several acclaimed albums, including "First Born" (2001), "The Many Faces of Oliver Hart" (2002), "E&A" (2004) & rock album as Carbon Carousel titled "The Sum of all Things..." (2006).
